Roadmap

NC Central University MSA Program: Years 1 & 2

During Year 1 of the program, participants will continue working in their district and be full time NCCU students. During Year 2, participants will complete a 10 month paid internship.

Classes will be offered online, at NCCU’s main campus in Durham, and satellite options located throughout the CCRESA region (exact locations TBD). Throughout the two-year MSA program participants will attend, virtually or face-to-face, 2 – 3 evening classes per week.

CCRESA Professional Development: Years 3 & 4

Post graduation and prior to entering their leadership role, participants will attend Crucial Learning summer courses at the CCRESA: Crucial Conversations, Influencer, and Crucial Accountability. Crucial Learning is a highly regarded leadership training program that equips participants with the tools to excel in interpersonal skills.

Throughout years 3 & 4, participants will come together for the Principal Lead & Learn Series. These sessions are held once a month and help new administrators fulfill their roles laid out by the NCDPI Executive Standards.

For maintaining an active role in the program, participants will receive an honorarium based upon their professional development participation.  Participants will also receive continuing education credits for each day of professional development.

CCRESA Executive Coaching: Years 3 & 4

Executive coaching plays a vital role in how educational leaders handle stress and, ultimately, their ability to improve student achievement. During their first year in an administrative role, participants will receive monthly, on-site coaching as well as virtual meetings and on-demand contact. The second year of coaching will include 5 on-site visits and 5 virtual contact opportunities.
